Ja nu är det slut med rökandet i Grekland också!
After attending a meeting with the Katastari Police I now feel fully aware of the new directive regarding the no smoking laws that are now fully in force in all areas of Greece.
The chief of police here made it clear that there will be no leniency with the enforcement of these laws.
How the new laws affect Bars and restaurants.
Smoking is now prohibited in closed areas including electronic vaping devices even when the business is closed.
Ash trays are to be removed from all inside areas and that means everywhere.
Smoking areas may be provided. Smoking areas may have a roof but must have 2 completely open sides. No doors or windows in the open sides, it was made clear that the 2 sides must be fully open.
The owner or appointed manager on duty in the establishment will be held responsible to ensure that there are no violations and must ask smokers not to smoke inside.
In the event that a person or persons refuse to obey the request to smoke outside then the person responsible must phone the police immediately to admonish responsibility and avoid prosecution.
No smoking signs must be displayed for every 15 square meters of floor area.
Smoking offenders will be fined €100 each
For the first violation the business will be fined €500 for each smoker
For the 2nd violation the business will be fined €1000 for each smoker
For the 3rd violation the business will be fined €2000 for each smoker
For the 4th violation the business will be fined €4000 for each smoker and will be closed for 10 days
For the 5th violation the business will be fined. €8000 for each smoker and the business licence will be revoked and be permanently closed.
Kanske kommer det att se ut så här 🙂 Mannen placerade cigaretten och sugröret genom ett gap i glasväggen, vilket tillät honom att blåsa ut röken genom sugröret utanför kaféet!
